AIMATracker

About AIMATracker

Helping expats in Portugal estimate their AIMA residence card processing times.

Why This Exists

Anyone who has gone through the AIMA (Agencia para a Integracao, Migracoes e Asilo) residence card process in Portugal knows the anxiety of waiting without any clear timeline. Processing times vary dramatically by office, visa type, and whether it's an initial application or renewal.

AIMATracker collects timeline data from community reports to give future applicants realistic estimates of how long they might wait.

Where the Data Comes From

Our data comes from three sources:

  • Reddit community posts We collect timeline reports shared on r/PortugalExpats, r/portugal, and related subreddits. These are extracted and structured into timeline records.
  • Nomad Gate forum We collect timeline reports from the Nomad Gate community forum, a popular expat resource for Portugal immigration topics.
  • Direct user submissionsAnyone who has been through the AIMA process can submit their timeline directly through our form.
Confidence Levels

Each record has a confidence level:

  • HighSpecific dates mentioned, clear timeline, first-person account.
  • MediumApproximate dates or durations, some details inferred.
  • LowVague timelines, secondhand reports, or significant uncertainty.
Limitations

This data is crowdsourced and comes with inherent limitations. Processing times change as AIMA reforms its systems. Data from before July 2025 may not reflect current processing speeds after the portal system was introduced.

The estimates are based on community reports and should not be taken as official AIMA timelines. Your individual experience may vary.
